Student Recreation & Wellness Center

The Student Recreation & Wellness Center is an inclusive and welcoming space that inspires students and the beach community to engage in healthy lifestyles by delivering accessible, diverse and innovative wellness programs for all.

The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) is a state-of-the-art 126,000-square-foot facility on the east side of Long Beach State University’s (LBSU) campus. Managed by Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) to inspire students and the campus community to embrace healthy lifestyles through innovative wellness programs and services.

Open to all LBSU students, associates and affiliates, this facility is a hub for recreational activities, programs and opportunities for Intramural Sports, Fitness and Wellness services.

The SRWC is LEED certified. (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) certified and offers many technological advances, such as biometric hand scanners for entry, filtered water fountains and flat screens with touch technology.

Tours describing the building’s LEED rated sustainable design features are available  upon request at the front desk. Take a tour to learn more about how the building’s design reduces its impact on the planet and provides a healthier environment for student recreation.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: Is the Student Recreation and Wellness Center open to all students?

A: YES! If you are an undergraduate student at California State University, Long Beach and pay the mandatory USU fee, the SRWC is yours to utilize.

Q: How much does the SRWC cost?

A: A student fee of $124 per semester (fall/spring) and $94 during summer semesters will be applied to student tuition under the University Student Union fee. If you are an associate or affiliate, please refer to our pricing, which is listed under Membership.

Q: How do I register for membership?

A: If you are a CSULB undergraduate student, you are encouraged to come to the SRWC to register. The SRWC is located by Engineering and across form Campus Police. Registration is fast and easy, and only requires your ID card. Hours for registration reflect the hours of the building. If you are an associate or affiliate, please visit the SRWC and receive a tour as well as information about membership.

Q: I already graduated! Can alumni obtain memberships?

A: Absolutely! Please check out the link under Memberships for Alumni. There is also a 10% discount on an annual membership if you are a part of the Alumni Association.

Q: What programs and classes are free?

A: It is the goal of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center to provide as many free programs and classes as possible. These programs will include drop-in basketball, volleyball, badminton, racquetball, spin and fitness classes, pool activities, and wellness workshops. If you are interested in a specific program, click on that link on our website to give you more information.

Q: Where can we park?

A: The closest parking structures are 2 and 3.

Q: I'd like to arrange to come in for a tour. How do I go about doing that?

A: Our Membership Services Representatives offer tours during our operational hours for small parties. However, if your group is larger than ten, you must call at least two weeks ahead to schedule a tour. Please contact us at asi-srwc@csulb.edu or call (562) 985-0755 to set up your tour today!

Q: I am enrolled at CSULB, but I am a CCPE/ALI student who doesn't pay the mandatory USU fees for the SRWC. Can I still sign-up?

A: Yes you can! The fee is $37 rolling monthly. You must cancel before the 15th of the month in order to not be charged for the following month.
