The Senate, is comprised of student Senators, who are elected each spring. There are two Senators from each of the seven colleges and six at-large members for a total of 20 Senators. They are responsible for writing legislation, approving the actions of subsidiary boards, and authorizing the appropriation of funds. The Senate also serves as the Board of Directors of the corporation. Every year there are new leaders creating new ideas and working hard to continue to propel ASI to the next level of student service. The Senate meets on Wednesday at 3:30 PM in the Dr. Stuart L. Farber Senate Chambers (USU- 234). The meetings are open to the general public and begins with a general opinion period, where members of the gallery can speak to the Senate. The Business & Finance Committee is responsible for developing and recommending policies to the AS Senate in the areas of finance, human resources and business administration between Associated Students and its partners. The committee also prepares and proposes ASI’s annual operating budget to the AS Senate. 

Once the annual budget is approved, the Business & Finance Committee oversees its implementation, monitors expenditures, and recommends any necessary modifications. All committee actions are subject to approval by the AS Senate. 

The committee is chaired by the ASI Vice President of Finance, and it meets on Tuesdays at 3:30p.m. in the Farber Senate Chambers (USU-234). Click here to view BFC minutes and agendas. 

The University Student Union (USU) and Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC), Board of Trustees (URECBOT) is responsible for the oversight of the USU and the SRWC as well as the programs that benefit all students of Long Beach State University. (LBSU). 

URECBOT is made up of five elected student-at-large officials which includes the ASI President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance and Associate Executive Director/USU and SRWC Director as well as senate, alumni, faculty and staff representatives.
