A well-balanced diet plays a vital role in maintaining overall health. Healthy eating not only supports optimal body function but also helps achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, reduces the risk of chronic diseases, and enhances mood and mental well-being.

Beach Balance’s nutrition counseling program, in collaboration with the Long Beach State University (LBSU) Family and Consumer Sciences Department, provides dietetic students with the opportunity to share their expertise in one-on-one sessions with members.

Our peer nutrition counselors can assist with:

  • Understanding basic nutrition concepts, including macronutrients and how to read food labels
  • Developing dietary strategies for weight loss or weight gain
  • Improving sports performance through tailored nutrition plans
  • Offering dietary suggestions for managing medical conditions like high cholesterol or high blood pressure


Disclaimer: Members dealing with eating disorders will be referred to Student Health Services for specialized care and support.

Schedule an Appointment

Work with a peer nutrition counselor to discover eating habits that best fit your lifestyle, dietary preferences, and individualized goals. Virtual and in-person options are available, and all nutrition counseling appointments are FREE of charge!

Booking an Appointment:

Appointments can be scheduled online through Bookings, in person, or by phone during Beach Balance operating hours.

  • Appointments must be made at least 4 days in advance, with a completed intake form submitted by the end of the next business day to confirm scheduling.
  • All clients must first book a 60-minute initial consultation appointment. After the initial consultation, 30-minute follow-up sessions can be scheduled.
